Introducing the Warwick Wahoos

A short story on one of our newest Masters’ clubs – the Warwick Wahoos.

We are located on the Southern Darling Downs and we train at WIRAC (Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre). The club was only formed a couple of weeks before lockdown so we haven’t really had a chance to get to know each other yet. Our coach Brad was forming us into a great little group. I was thrilled to find out the club was forming here earlier this year as the closest Masters club to us was Toowoomba, an hour away.

I have always been a swimmer and even as a child I loved the water. Over twenty years ago I was an active member of the now long gone club ‘Jindalee Jacks’ in Brisbane and swam in the 1994 World Masters. I am now retired and although prior to joining the Wahoos I had barely been in a pool for years, so I am looking forward to making new friends, having fun, getting fit and hopefully competing in the near future (I love to compete). And maybe even finally learning butterfly.

I am so very happy to once again be part of the Masters community and I look forward to meeting you all one of these days.
