AUSSI Masters as it was originally known, was constituted in Sydney as the Australian Union of Senior Swimmers International (AUSSI) on 22nd September 1975.

In 1974, a team of US Masters Swimmers visited Australia for a competition in Sydney. On the 18th October 1974, a meeting was held where the new association was formed.

Aussie Masters Swimming began in Qld in November 1976, when National Fitness Council officer Paul Lacey called a meeting at the University of Qld and 14 people gathered to discuss this concept of keeping fit and a swimming association for adults.

Aussie, Masters Swimming in Australia, Queensland Branch Inc was incorporated on 1 November 1988, under the Queensland Associations Incorporation Act.

In 2009, the acronym AUSSI was removed in favour of Masters Swimming Australia (MSA).

‘Aussie, Masters Swimming in Australia, Queensland Branch Inc.’ changed its name to ‘Masters Swimming Queensland Incorporated’ on 18 March 2011.
