Masters Swimming Queensland (MSQ) is the leader in Australia for providing Multi Class swimming competition opportunities for swimmers 18 and over.
MSQ introduced Multi Class recognition at its State Championships in Rockhampton in 2018, under the leadership of then MSQ President Rachael Keogh, with classified Masters swimmers provided the opportunity to compete under their classification to be awarded medals at the State Championship level in their respective classifications.
In 2023, Great Barrier Reef Masters Games (GBRMGs) Meet Convenor, Cheryl Brodribb, introduced the award of GBRMGs Multi Class Swimmer of the Meet to add inclusivity to the existing Female and Male Swimmer of the meet awards.
Celeste Labuschagne (SB9 and S10), member of Townsville’s QLT Long Tan Legends, was awarded the inaugural GBRMGs Multi Class Swimmer of the Meet award.

MSQ continued its commitment to supporting inclusivity in adult swimming competition with the introduction of Female and Male Multi Class Swimmer of the Meet Awards at the MSQ State Championships held at Chandler Aquatic Centre in Brisbane in March 2024.
MSQ President, Susanne Milenkevich, presented the inaugural MSQ Masters State Championships Female and Male Multi Class Swimmer of the Meet awards to Chelsea Stubbings (S14) of QSM Brisbane Southside Masters and Mick Schuddinh (S12) of QMM Miami Masters.

MSQ continues to work toward growing the adult Multi Class swimmer opportunities.
In 2024, MSQ President, Susanne Milenkevich, collated all past and present known Multi Class swimmers’ competition results to present the Clubs and Members with a draft MSQ Multi Class Masters Records document. This was reviewed by Clubs and Members who provided feedback and a final copy was presented to the MSQ Board and Executive in mid-2024 who voted to adopt the document as Establishment Multi Class Records for MSQ.
MSQ continues to lead the way in Australia support and recognise the efforts of all adult swimmers in Queensland regardless of abilities. With the establishment of records and awards, MSQ provides new goals for adult Multi Class swimmers to work toward in their competitive swimming.
