Whitehaven Beach Open Water Swim Returns!
The North Mackay Sinkers and Masters Swimming Qld are excited to host the return of an Open Water Swim to the fabulous Whitehaven Beach. The last organised swim was 5 years ago in 2019 and swimmers are looking forward to participating this year and putting this event on their calendar in the coming years.
When: Sunday 6 October 2024
Distances: Choice of 1 or 2 km
Who: Swimmers 18 and over, the Sinkers have opted to include non-masters swimmers as guests so you do not need to be in a masters club at all.

How to enter: Registered Masters swimmers via Swim Central (SC) Swimmers without a SC account need to create a day membership via the SC site. (https://authcrm2.swimming.org.au/) or scan the QR code below:
What’s on Offer! For your entry fee you get a return fast ferry from Shute Harbour to and from Whitehaven beach, transfers ashore, a light lunch and a supervised, timed swim along with a commemorative medal to mark the return of the event to the open water swim Calendar.
Whitehaven Beach
Located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven beach is one of the worlds most unspoiled and beautiful beaches, an was voted #1 “Best of the Best Beaches in the World” by Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards 2021.
The almost impossible white sand of the famous beach extends for 7km and is washed by swirls of turquoise, blue and green water. The sand is 98% pure white silica, which gives a brilliant, near luminescent colour.
The swimmer numbers are strictly limited to the capacity of the vessels and limited spots remain so first in best dressed for this open water swim in a unique location. The North Mackay Sinkers look forward to welcoming swimmers from near and far as we work to deliver a memorable event.
