Rum City Masters Swim Meet Summary

Our swim meet was held on Saturday 11 June 2022. It was a lovely sunny afternoon, although it was during the middle of the cold snap, so swimmers were looking for the sunny spots around the venue in between their races to warm up again.

Thank you to all the swimmers who travelled to Bundaberg to attend our meet. People from 12 different clubs attended, coming from Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba and other clubs in between those centres and Bundaberg.

We sincerely thank the referees who travelled to officiate at the meet:  Michele, Liz and Colin.  Without the officials, we couldn’t run the meet, so we appreciate their time and expertise.  We also had great support from Michele and Ivan Watson from BSA, and the juniors from Bundaberg Swim Team to help us run the event and provide the food. Sponsors of some of our prizes and cash events were: Laurel’s Learn to Swim School, Subway Bundaberg, MRH Lawyers and WBB Environmental. Thank you again to these supporters.

There were also many members of our club who put in a lot of time in preparation for the meet and on the day. Thank you to everyone for coming together and helping out in any way to make this a great day.

Winners of cash prizes for closest to their nominated times were: Tom Hosking – Rum City, Lexie Steffan – Rum City, Paula Hewitt – Hervey Bay, Ian McAlister – Maryborough, and Shane O’Sullivan – Rum City.

The small clubs average points trophy was won by Ipswich, and the large clubs average points trophy was won by Rum City. Yay team!

Thank you again to everyone for making this a wonderful afternoon.  We look forward to another great event in 2023.
