Brisbane Northside Masters Meet Summary 2022

Brisbane Northside had a very successful swim meet on Saturday 27th August at the Valley Pool, with 114 competitors nominating from across southeast Queensland and beyond.

This was the first meet Northside was able to host after having to cancel the previous two years due to the pandemic, and the shorter events format seemed to be accepted very well.

It was a fine sunny day which made things very comfortable for swimmers.

The day went very smoothly with no holdups, and after a short break in the middle of the 25metre events to allow swimmers a breather, the meet finished at 12.30, which was on schedule.

Self-marshalling was successful with one marshal on hand to advise swimmers of their heat position when needed, and the check starter making sure the correct swimmer was at the blocks, ensuring there were no problems.

Presentations followed soon after, with the following Club winners announced:

  • The John and Shirley Kerr Trophy for Small Clubs was won by Noosa with an average point score of 46.8
  • The Don Fowles Trophy for Large Clubs was won by Miami, with an average point score of 45.5
  • The Overall Winner trophy for total points was won by Miami with 455 points

There were some amazing swims on the day with a total of 9 Branch records and two National records broken.

The club wishes to thank everyone that came along for a fun morning after a frustrating couple of years and look forward to another great day of swimming next year.
