Albany Creek Masters – MND and Me Fundraising

The annual MND (Motor Neurone Disease) & Me Foundation and MW Recruitment Swimming Carnival was held at the Valley Pool last Friday, 1 March 2019.

Each year our valued sponsor, SHAND TAYLOR Lawyers, is supported by Albany Creek Masters at the MND and Me Fundraising swim carnival. Money raised at the carnival goes to people and their families living with MND.

So, on Friday 1 March, a flock of ducks flapped their way, via car and train, to The Valley pool for an evening of fun, friendship and fundraising. Food and beverages were consumed, selfies taken, group photos shot, encouragements shouted and races swum.

Individual events consisted of 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke in three age groups. Relays were all freestyle with no age groups. A highlight of the evening was the celebrity auction where the law firms bid for a celebrity swimmer to compete with their team in the celebrity relay race. Shand Taylor outbid all others to secure Jack McLoughlin for the anchor leg. Other star swimmers included Susie O’Neill, Jodie Henry Mitch Larkin.

Although the other law firms had large numbers of swimmers and supporters, the ducks and Shand Taylor Lawyers prevailed by evening’s end, winning the percentages trophy and coming second overall. Thus proving once again that Masters swimmers are the best! Well done to all.
