Toowoomba Masters Meet Report 2024
MEET DIRECTOR’S REPORT FOR THE TOOWOOMBA MASTERS SHORT COURSE MEET – 5TH OCTOBER 2024
Over 105 swimmers from across the state, including as far as Tasmania, ventured up the Range for an exciting day of racing at the Glennie Aquatic Centre on Saturday 5 October 2024. Unfortunately, the meet coincided with the Lights on the Hill Truck Convoy, which added an extra hour of travel time for many Brisbane swimmers. Those who missed their first race were given the opportunity to catch up during the meet.
In the competition, the Small Clubs Average Points Trophy was won by Redlands Bayside Masters, while the Large Clubs Average Points Trophy was claimed by Belgravia Masters.
This weekend’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support and hard work of our Club Captain, Carolyn Lunney, and all our members who were there from start to finish. Their behind-the-scenes efforts were instrumental in making the day a great success.
A huge thank you to the volunteers, whose incredible support ensured the event ran smoothly. Their contributions eliminated the need for timekeepers from other clubs, which was greatly appreciated by all participants.
Special thanks also go to Colleen Watson and her team of helpers for the excellent catering. Everyone enjoyed a plentiful afternoon tea!
Highlights from the Meet:
- Three State records were set during the meet.
- There was only one minor medical issue, which St. John’s handled prior to the start.
- The meet began a few minutes late to allow travelling swimmers extra time to arrive.
- Swimmers were able to view their times immediately after finishing their heats on the scoreboard.
- Presentations were held promptly after the last event.
- Over 50 swimmers and friends joined us for dinner at the Toowoomba Sports Club.
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making the day a success!
