Sinkers Fundraising for February

The Sinkers Masters Swimming Club continues to raise funds in 2025 for worthwhile causes and February’s effort was the Starlight Super Swim, raising funds for sick kids. This is an event run by the Starlight Children’s Foundation and is the largest national charity swim held each year in February.

It’s the whole month of February in which your laps are recorded by a handy app along with your team and donations pledged to you or the team.

This Sinkers use the Super Swim as a community fundraiser and swim training motivation with members building towards events, in particular the Masters Swimming Championships in Melbourne (April 2025).

In 2024 the Sinkers raised $2827 and by the end of February 2025 they raised $4582 establishing a new PB for the club in the event.

A team of 9 Sinkers swam a total of 5228 laps- a total of 261.43 km – throughout February.  Of note is Pierre Craven’s effort of 2,667 laps – 133.83km.

Nationally some 13,002 swimmers participated clocking up an impressive 139,713 km in the process. Importantly the super swim raised a total of $3,864,981 across Australia for the Starlight Children’s Foundation important work.

The Bunna-barra Masters Club fielded a team of 5 swimmers. They raised $3529 and swam 127.66km bringing a combined total for both clubs to $8111.
