River City Masters Meet Summary 2022

River City Masters Short Course Meet Summary – Saturday 7 May 2022

After a couple of fun meet dress rehearsals for River City, 2022 was the year to bring fully sanctioned Masters swimming back to Somerville House.  The meet was positioned to allow swimmers more short-course preparation for MSQ States which follows the event in just a couple of weeks. The weather was kind to us with predicted storms arriving just as the medal ceremony was concluded.

Twenty-five MSQ clubs from across South-East Queensland competed with individual points and relay medals fiercely contested.

Special thanks to:

  • Michelle Gallen – Chief Timekeeper
  • Kylie Fletcher– Meet Announcer
  • Elaine Sng, Barry Peters, Whitney Turner, Peter Duell and Anita Trowbridge – Meet Marshalls and Check Starters
  • Jane Wilson, Sean Bofinger and Martin Banks – Meet Recording
  • Jamie Coates – for managing starting equipment setup
  • Christina Scolaro – Meet Support and Communication
  • Terry Major – Meet Referee
  • Our team of MSQ Officials – Heather, Liz, Bruce, Colin and David
  • Richard Sanderson and Belgravia Masters – Meet Photography
  • Fran McCabe – Pool Manager, Somerville House School
  • Tim Lane – Director of Swimming, Somerville House School

This would not have been possible without the amazing collaboration of River City Masters swimmers, partners and relatives – whether it be planning, baking, announcing, marshalling, check-starting, awarding medals and donating for our meet.

We sincerely thank all our club members for their massive contribution to making the meet a success.
