MSQ Makes a Splash for Breast Cancer Research
November 2025 marked a milestone for Masters Swimming Queensland (MSQ), as the organisation joined the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s (NBCF) annual “Swim For Breast Cancer” fundraiser for the very first time. This initiative, part of the MSQ Community Care Program, saw swimmers from across Queensland unite for a cause that touches countless lives.
Swimming for a Cure
Every day, nine Australians lose their lives to breast cancer. In response, MSQ members rallied together throughout November, swimming and fundraising to support NBCF’s vital research efforts. The campaign resonated deeply with the MSQ community, aligning perfectly with their passion for swimming and community care.
Outstanding Results
With an initial fundraising target of $5,000, the MSQ team—comprising 19 dedicated swimmers from multiple clubs—surpassed all expectations. As of early December, the team had raised $9,730, with hopes high to reach the $10,000 mark. This achievement placed MSQ among the top 10 fundraising teams nationwide, demonstrating the power of collective action and generosity.
Going the Distance
The fundraising efforts were matched by impressive swimming feats. Together, the 19 swimmers completed 311 kilometres—equivalent to 6,220 laps of an Olympic pool. Fundraising activities included raffles and collection boxes, and the swim challenge complemented other MSQ programs such as Vorgee Million Meters, Lane Warriors, and Endurance 1000, making it a win for both charity and club engagement.
How You Can Help
If you missed the chance to support the MSQ team, donations are still welcome. Help push the total past $10,000 and contribute to life-saving breast cancer research.
