MSQ 2022 Official of the Year

Congratulations to Bruce Allender of the Sunshine Coast Masters Swimming Club for being awarded MSQ Official of the Year for 2022!

Bruce was presented with this award at a recent Sunshine Coast Masters club meeting in honour of the late Derek Coghill. Wendy Coghill was in attendance to celebrate and remember the many years of dedicated service Derek gave as an official to MSQ.

The Sunshine Coast Masters nominated Bruce for this award, outlining his love for all things swimming. This was further demonstrated by Bruce’s commitment to MSQ as an official at many meets during 2022, in addition to his Co-Director of Coaching  role for MSQ. Bruce has a calm and professional approach. He is supportive of the meet organisers and competitors. Bruce’s knowledge of swimming is extensive and his experience as an Official shows through in his leadership skills and his ability to work happily with everyone. It seems Bruce is qualified in all official roles. Bruce was the Meet Referee for the QSC meet in 2022. Working closely with Bruce in the lead up to the meet and on the day he demonstrated respect and commitment to ensure his fellow offficials were given everything they needed to fulfill their duties. He definitely promotes a positive image of officiating and the role of an official.

Bruce has been an active member of Masters swimming for many years in Victoria and continued his devotion to Masters Swimming when he relocated to Queensland a few years back.
QSC are privileged to have Bruce as a club member and are grateful to Bruce for his time every Sunday to coach QSC swimmers at Kawana pool. The swimming abilities of members who attend this squad vary significantly and he effortlessly tailors individual workouts for each swimmer. He keeps the tone light-hearted, listens to feedback from the swimmers, whilst still pushing for each swimmer to achieve their best.
