Brisbane Southside Masters SC Meet Wrap Up 2026

The 2026 Brisbane Southside Masters Short Course Meet was held on Saturday, 27 June 2026, attracting a strong field of Masters swimmers from across Queensland and beyond. The meet featured more than 1,000 race entries across two competition sessions and delivered a day of high-quality racing, strong club spirit and outstanding individual performances.

Conditions were ideal throughout the day, with fine winter weather allowing swimmers to make full use of the outdoor facilities for warm up and recovery. The atmosphere around the venue reflected the community spirit of Masters swimming, with volunteers, officials, supporters and competitors contributing to a vibrant and welcoming environment.

Competition in the pool reached an exceptional standard, with 19 records broken across the meet. These performances included one World Record and seven National Records, highlighting the depth of talent on display. The standout swim of the day came from Barbarians swimmer David Morgan, who set a new World Record in the Men’s 30 to 34 years 100m Butterfly, recording a time of 51.26 seconds.

Kady Ibell was named Swimmer of the Meet following an outstanding series of performances throughout the competition. Her consistency and quality across multiple events made her a deserving recipient of the award.

A notable addition to the 2026 meet program was the inaugural Team Club Skins event. Held midway through the day’s racing, the new format proved an immediate success, generating excitement among swimmers and spectators alike. Fast-paced racing, close finishes and enthusiastic club support combined to create one of the most memorable highlights of the meet and demonstrated the strong camaraderie that exists across the Masters swimming community.

Beyond the record-breaking swims, the meet produced numerous personal best performances and tightly contested races across all age groups. Strong club representation and support from pool deck contributed to a competitive yet welcoming environment that remains a hallmark of Masters swimming.

Following a post-meet review of results, Belgravia Masters was confirmed as the winner of the Small Club Trophy. The award was initially announced incorrectly during presentations, and the organising committee congratulates Belgravia on its achievement. Brisbane Southside Masters Swimming Club was awarded the Overall Champion Club title after accumulating the highest aggregate points total across the meet.

The organising committee also acknowledges an issue relating to a small number of medals presented on the day. Any medals that were incorrectly awarded will be replaced by BSM. If you haven’t already been in contact about this, emails to meet-direct@bsmswimming.asn.au are highly encouraged.

Brisbane Southside Masters Swimming Club extends its sincere thanks to all swimmers, officials, volunteers, supporters and sponsors who contributed to the success of the event. Their efforts helped create a memorable day of competition, achievement and fellowship, ensuring another successful chapter in the club’s annual meet.
