Join the MSQ Swim for a Cure Team This November

Masters Swimming Queensland members are invited to join the MSQ Swim for a Cure Team and support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) throughout November.

Swim for a Cure is a nationwide fundraising campaign that encourages participants to set a personal swimming goal, log their kilometres, and raise funds for vital breast cancer research. Participants can choose any challenge that suits them, whether that’s swimming 9km during the month, completing a personal distance target, or simply spending more time in the water while supporting an important cause.

The campaign’s 9km milestone is symbolic. NBCF reports that nine Australians die from breast cancer every day, highlighting the ongoing importance of research to improve prevention, detection, treatment and survival outcomes.

NBCF is Australia’s leading national organisation dedicated to funding breast cancer research and has invested more than $250 million in over 650 research projects since 1994, all working towards its vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

MSQ members achieved an outstanding result in 2025, raising $9,730, almost double the original fundraising target of $5,000. Nineteen MSQ members joined the team, with all participants being female.

In 2026, MSQ would love to see at least one participant from every MSQ club join the team, promote the campaign within their club, and help raise funds for this important cause.

Whether you’re a competitive swimmer, fitness swimmer or occasional participant, every lap and every donation can help fund research that saves lives.
