MSQ Makes a Splash at 2025 State LC Championships

Celebrating the 2025 MSQ State Long Course Championships – Three days of racing, camaraderie, and celebration at Brisbane Aquatic Centre with nearly 250 swimmers from across Queensland, Australia, and the world.

The 2025 Masters Swimming Queensland Long Course State Championships made a splash at Queensland’s home of swimming – the Brisbane Aquatic Centre – from 6–8 November 2025. This premier event brought together almost 250 competitors from 50 clubs, including 8 multi-class swimmers and 5 international athletes, showcasing the true spirit of Masters swimming.

Swimmers travelled from every corner of Queensland – from Cairns, Townsville and Mackay, to Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Gympie, and across the Sunshine and South regions from Noosa to Miami, even as far west as Toowoomba. MSQ also proudly welcomed visitors from across Australia and beyond, including athletes from the ACT, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia, and international guests from Japan, New Zealand and Spain.

This event was made possible thanks to the incredible efforts of the MSQ Board, led by President Susanne Milenkevich, and our dedicated team of Officials, expertly led by MSQ Director of Technical Services, Lori Chaplin. We also acknowledge the growing team of Volunteers who kept everything running smoothly – from timekeeping and medal presentations to ensuring accurate results. Special thanks go to Christina Scolaro, MSQ Business Manager, and Gaby Donnelly, MSQ Event Coordinator, for their outstanding work in preparing and delivering this Championship.

Competitors enjoyed more than racing – from custom event merchandise at Fine Designs, to massage services courtesy of Keiser, and a lively Presentation Function at BrewDog overlooking the Brisbane River. The evening featured a return performance by Jason Dean of Barbarian Masters Swim Club, whose music set the perfect tone for celebration.

A huge thank you also goes to MSQ Photographer, Gary Brinkman, for capturing the excitement and energy of the Championships through his wonderful event photography, and to MSQ Director of Coaching, Natasha Bletchley, for assisting with daily photography throughout the meet.
