Brisbane Northside Swim Meet – Saturday 6 September 2025

Brisbane Northside Masters hosted their annual short course swim meet at the iconic Valley Pool on Saturday 6 September, drawing a strong turnout of 180 nominations. The event welcomed swimmers from across Queensland, interstate, and even one international competitor from a Masters club in Japan.

With perfect weather and a well-organised program, the meet kicked off promptly at 9:00am and wrapped up close to schedule by 1:00pm. All events ran smoothly, thanks to the efforts of the dedicated volunteers and officials.

Following the final race, presentations were held poolside, where the winners of the team trophies were announced:

πŸ† Don Fowles Trophy – Large Clubs (Average Points): Belgravia Masters
πŸ† Mary Sweeney Trophy – Overall Winner (Aggregate Points): The Swim Academy (TSA Masters)

Congratulations to all three clubs for their outstanding performances!

The meet also saw four new MSQ State records set by the following swimmers:

  • Shelley Devers (Gympie Gold Fins, 35–39 yrs): 50m Breaststroke – 34.13 sec
  • Aileen Mackinnon (Belgravia, 55–59 yrs): 200m Freestyle – 2:26.87
  • Angus Waddell (TSA, 60–64 yrs): 25m Freestyle – 12.41 sec
  • Sebastien Roy Bryant (Commercial, 18–24 yrs): 100m Backstroke – 1:01.23

A huge congratulations to these record-breakers and to all swimmers who took part in making the day such a success.
