Masters Mayhem at Southside
Masters Mayhem at Southside: Fast Laps, Big Laughs and F Words to Remember 🏆
The lanes were full and the vibes were flying high at the 2025 Brisbane Southside Masters Short Course Meet, held on Saturday, 28 June at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. With over 300 swimmers from clubs across Australia — and even an international guest from the UK — the annual meet turned into a full-throttle celebration of what Masters Swimming is all about.
And who better to capture the essence of the day than Brisbane Southside President Brian Harding, who summed it up with three unforgettable F-words: Fitness, Friendship and Fun.
Truer words have never echoed across pool deck.
🏅 Swimmer of the Meet – Andrew Cowan
Putting on an absolute masterclass in consistency and grit, Andrew Cowan showed that speed and stamina can go hand-in-hand. His performances across multiple events were a cut above, racking up points and admiration in equal measure. A worthy recipient of Swimmer of the Meet, Cowan left no doubt — the man can fly through water.
📊 Small Club Average Points Winner – Cotton Tree Masters
They may, by comparison, look like a small squad, but Cotton Tree Masters punched way above their weight, dominating the stats sheet with their average points per swimmer. Precision swims, big smiles, and solid relay performances brought home the win for the Sunshine Coast crew.
🏆 Champion Club – TSA Masters
TSA Masters proved that they have powerhouse status, taking out the Champion Club trophy with depth, dominance, and dynamite swims. From sprints to distance events, their swimmers were everywhere — including the top of the podium.
🎉 Post-Race Highlights
While the heats were hot, the post-race sausage sizzle was sizzling even harder. Swimmers swapped splits, stories, and sausages as the afternoon sun set on another cracking meet. The smell of snags and the buzz of banter were the perfect end to a stellar day.
A huge shoutout to Brisbane Southside Masters for hosting with class, kindness, and clockwork timing. From the deck marshals to the relay madness, this meet had it all.
Until next time — swim fast, smile hard, and never underestimate the power of a well-earned snag. 🌭💦
